Hi Reader
It’s spring cleaning season, and right along with old sweaters and things we swore we’d use, we’d like to officially retire a few travel trends we’re more than happy to leave behind.
Because behind the scenes? We see it all 🤭
The last-minute requests that were never going to work. The budgets that don’t match the vision. The trends that look great online... but fall apart in real life.
And while we could keep working around them, we’d rather help you travel better.
Here’s what we think we should leave behind as we head into the second half of 2026 and beyond 👇
Last-minute planning for peak travel dates
We get it—life gets busy. But when it comes to destination weddings, cruises, and peak-season travel, waiting too long usually means limited options, higher prices, and a lot more stress. The best resorts, room categories, and group perks are often gone months, and sometimes more than a year, in advance. Planning early doesn’t just secure your spot—it gives you choices. Gone are the days of fantastic last-minute deals.
Overpacking itineraries with no downtime
Trying to do everything often means you don’t actually enjoy anything. We see this a lot with Asia trips and even group wedding itineraries—every hour scheduled, no time to breathe. The magic usually happens in the unscheduled moments: poolside chats, spontaneous exploring, or simply soaking it all in. Travel should feel like a break, not a checklist.
Skipping travel insurance
This is one of those things that feels optional... until it really isn’t. Flights get delayed, weather happens, bags go missing, and sometimes life throws curveballs before you even leave. Travel insurance isn’t just about worst-case scenarios—it’s about protecting your investment and having support when things don’t go as planned. We’ve seen firsthand how much of a difference it can make.
Copy-paste itineraries from ChatGPT
The internet is great for inspiration, but not every itinerary is built for real-life logistics. We often see plans that look perfect on paper but don’t account for travel time, local conditions, or the exhaustion that comes from constant moving. Especially for destination weddings or multi-stop Asia trips, customization matters. A well-planned trip should fit you—not a template.
“Luxury” expectations on a low-range budget
We love a good deal as much as anyone, but expectations and budget need to align. Not every resort marketed as “luxury” delivers the same experience, and pricing can vary widely by destination and season. The goal isn’t to overspend—it’s to spend smart and know what you’re getting. When expectations are realistic, the experience is so much better.
Your turn! What’s a travel trend you’d happily never see again? Hit reply and tell us—we love hearing your hot takes.
If you’re ready to leave the chaos, overpacked itineraries, and “why did we do it this way?!” moments behind, let’s plan something better 🤝
P.S. A travel “trend” worth keeping around? Planning early, planning well, and having a travel team in your corner who knows what they’re doing.
P.P.S. We also have a Thailand Family Adventure with G Adventures coming up, and it’s a fun option for families who want culture, connection, and a little adventure without having to plan every detail themselves. Tap below to see the itinerary and trip details, or hit reply if you’d rather chat it through with us.
Prefer to chat first? Just hit reply, and we’ll send the details.
Warmly,
